About Calculiva.
Quantities you can check before you buy.
Calculiva publishes 30 calculators for floors, tile, wall paneling, wallpaper and window treatments. The site is published under the Calculiva name, and every calculator on it is researched and verified by the Calculiva Data & Research Team.
A data team, not a crew
None of us lays floors or hangs wallpaper for a living. So nothing here is offered as trade advice, and no page says it was reviewed by an installer, because none was. What we can stand behind is narrower: the geometry, the product dimensions we looked up, and the arithmetic that turns your measurements into a shopping list.
How a calculator gets built
A tool starts with the questions people type into a search box and the calculators already answering them. We run those tools, write down what they leave out, and publish only where we can show more than a total: a drawing of the layout, a numbered list wherever there are cuts, and a purchase that keeps what gets installed apart from offcuts, the reserve you chose and packaging rounding.
All 30 tools share one geometry engine that runs in your browser. It keeps every length in millimeters and, wherever pieces are cut, counts them from the shapes actually cut rather than from an area divided by a tile size. Any change to it has to pass its automated test suite before the site is rebuilt. The method, the rounding rules and the list of what the engine leaves out are on how we calculate.
Where the numbers come from
Board widths, roll formats, panel modules and allowances are recorded in 35 data sheets: 3 published standards, 20 market surveys and 12 conventions. Each sheet names its source and the date it was last checked, and the whole register is on data and sources, reusable under CC BY 4.0. A figure we cannot trace to a source stays off the page.
Tell us when something is wrong
If a result looks off, a product has changed size or a source has moved, write to contact@calculiva.com. The page address and the numbers you entered are enough for us to rerun the calculation. The same address answers questions about privacy.
